Sir Scruffy gets behind SPCA gala
A spunky lhasa apso named Sir Scruffy is bucking up to help fellow animals in need.
Sir Scruffy, the canine mascot of Surrey-based King of Floors, is sponsoring the BC SPCA Surrey Branch's sixth annual Animal Lovers' Gala Dinner & Auction, set for May 1.
"Sir Scruffy has never had to face the uncertainty of life in an animal shelter," said Brad Newell, owner of the King of Floors. "Unfortunately, that's not the reality for the more than 3,600 dogs, cats and small animals that find themselves at the SPCA's Surrey Branch every year. Thankfully, the SPCA is there to care for them."
Sir Scruffy is the gala's first gold level sponsor, donating $2,500 to help ensure the much-anticipated event is a success.
The Animal Lovers' Gala Dinner & Action, which usually sells out early, is set for May 1 at the Sheraton Guildford Vancouver Hotel. The 160 guests can expect a scrumptious buffet dinner followed by a presentation on the Surrey shelter's work and the silent and live auction.
Last year's gala raised $42,000 to care for, rehabilitate and find new homes for Surrey's homeless animals.
In addition to Sir Scruffy and the King of Floors, the event is also generously sponsored by The Kullar Family, and The Now Newspaper Tickets are $75 per person or $560 for a table of eight. Doors open at 6 p.m. Purchase tickets online at spca.bc.ca/surreygala or call the shelter at 604-597-5655. The first 100 ticket buyers will be entered into a draw to win a brunch for two at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel.
The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization funded primarily by public donations. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and to promote the welfare of animals through a wide range of services, including cruelty investigations, emergency rescue and treatment, sheltering and adoption of homeless and abused animals, humane education, advocacy, farm animal welfare, spay/neuter programs, and wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.
